ADAM REID (director/writer/producer)

Adam got his start writing and producing promos for Comedy Central including South Park and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He is currently the Executive Creative Director of the production company Bodega Studios  in New York City. Clients include: IBM, Mastercard, Subaru, USA Network, Volkswagen, Food Network, KIA and Toyota, among many others.

Adam brings a light touch and an old soul to all his work. He shows great affection for his lived in characters, a gift for sharp humor, and an ability to capture natural performances that ring true.

Adam’s feature film debut Hello Lonesome opened on May 27th,2011.  In his New York Times review of the film, Stephen Holden wrote “Adam Reid’s smart, poignant trilogy manages the considerable feat of creating six fully human characters. Structurally, it is a Chekhovian mosaic, similar to Rodrigo Garcia’s films in its attention to minute personal detail but somewhat lighter in tone. The dialogue is remarkably spontaneous and the performances refreshingly natural.“

Hello Lonesome is now nominated for a 2012 Film Independent Spirit Award. (The John Cassavetes Award given to the best feature film made for under $500,000.)

Adam wrote and directed the book trailer for The New York Times bestseller Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. More recently, he directed a music video for Brooklyn based band Jones Street Station’s single “The Understanding.” The video features Danny Pudi (Abed from NBC’s “Community”) and the worlds tiniest camera.

Adam’s short film, While the Widow is Away (available on iTunes) was a winner at film festivals across the country and one of ten films shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination in 2007. The film, which Adam wrote, shot, directed and produced himself, showcased intimate performances by Lynn Cohen and Kamel Boutros, two actors who return in Hello Lonesome.
